20 years, Drug Conspiracy
March 16, 1999
First of all, I want to thank The November Coalition for all your work and effort to end our "War on Drugs." Thanks to you, FAMM, Human Rights and the Drug War and others that are fighting to end this failing war, people like myself have hope that it will end.
Tomorrow is my 44th birthday and the sixth birthday I've spent away from my family. I'm serving a 20-year sentence in a federal prison camp in Phoenix, Arizona for my so-called involvement in a drug conspiracy. Like so many others, there was no evidence other than the self-serving testimony of a government informant who was never even indicted for her own involvement. When is this going to stop? Something has to be done so this practice no longer can be used.
In my case though, I was able, with the help of a private investigator, to locate the informant. She has agreed to come forward and recant her testimony. All she has to do is tell the truth and hopefully I will be returning to court before the end of this year! All this has been achieved with the help of Joseph Nash, Southeast Legal Foundation, Abe Factor, Attorney at Law and, Danny LaRue of LaRue Investigations in Fort Worth, Texas. I couldn't have done this without them!!
I'm including a photo of my two youngest daughters and myself. At the time of this picture, I hadn't seen them in almost three years. Now I have hope of being with them in the near future and not in 2010! Once again, thanks for all you have done, and all you are continuing to do. My plans after my release will be to join in this fight.

My name is Debi Campbell, and I am currently incarcerated at the Federal Prison Camp in Victorville, California. I am now serving my 10th year of a 19 year 7 month sentence.
I have corresponded with your organization several times over the years, and I also receive your quarterly newspaper. Today though, I am writing to ask for the November Coalition's support of my request for Presidential Clemency. I am also writing newspaper publications, such as yours, in order to obtain media and advertisement support of my website www.freedebicampbell.com. The website gives a brief history of my life, as well as my crime, and a petition readers may download and mail to support my commutation of sentence.
Sentenced during the decade of harsh mandatory minimums and federal sentencing guidelines, I received a longer term of imprisonment than someone convicted of the same crime today. I need your help.
Today, I am near completion of two college degrees and will continue towards a BA in Political Science. My children are now young adults, my father and aunt are quite elderly. The person I was before coming to prison has changed dramatically, and the mistakes I made in the past will not re-occur. It's time for me to step back into life and be a productive member of society once again.
Please support me in this life altering request, by assisting me in my efforts to have as many people as possible visit my website, and support my cause. It will be the only way I might be able to leave here before my release date of 2010. Once again, all the information may be found on www.freedebicampbell.com.
If you should have any questions, or need any additional information, please contact me at the address below.
Sincerely, Debi
