My case was a state case originally. Five days before my trial by jury, I was brought to court and all charges were dropped. The boys from the federal marshall's office were there with a 3-count grand jury indictment US Title 18 - Guns & Ammunition. This was in January of 1994.

Before my federal trial the DEA came at me numerous times wanting to know where my meth lab was. I told them I didn't have a meth lab. They told me I'd go to prison for the rest of my life. Finally they offered me a deal of 10 years if I plead guilty. I couldn't plead guilty to something I wasn't guilty of. I took my case to trial and was found guilty for a gun and 3 bullets and not guilty on the other gun. The bullets didn't fit the gun I was "found guilty of." Needless to say, I was given 44 years for possession of a gun and 3 bullets. I recently had my sentenced reduced to 22 years - but 22 years for a crime I did not commit?

We have a sick and cruel criminal justice system.
