Bill Moushey to launch new INNOCENCE PROJECT
Award-winning journalist
Bill Moushey (Author of the WIN AT ALL COSTS series) wrote the
Razor Wire to say he is accepting a full-time professor's job
at a small college in Pittsburgh to teach journalism and establish
an INNOCENCE PROJECT to be named the Innocence Institute of Western
Pennsylvania. He believes it will be the first journalism-driven
innocence project (most similar efforts originate from legal
profession) in the United States.
"We're devising a real-world curriculum that will enable
students to learn various aspects of investigative reporting
while examining allegations of wrongful convictions," wrote
Moushey. "Last spring I taught the first such class, and
it appears we may be helping a man convicted of a double murder
15 years ago prove his innocence," he wrote with obvious
satisfaction.
The work will focus on western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern
West Virginia and possibly northwestern Maryland. People with
inquiries can send them to:
The Innocence Institute of Western Pennsylvania
c/o Department of Journalism and Mass Communications Point Park
College
Wood Street at Boulevard of the Allies
Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
Moushey said he would also continue working at the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette where he continues his recognized effort to expose
criminal behavior within the ranks of law enforcement.
