The weather in Colville changes seasonally, and sometimes dramatically during a season, or during a day for that matter. Summers are cool to very hot. There is little humidity, so both heat and cold is 'dry.' A typical summer day can reach a high of 88 -- and dip down to the mid-50's in the evening. Daytime summer temperatures can reach 102 degrees.
Autumn begins with warm days and cool nights, and ends snowy -- usually -- but weather isn't very predictable around here. Winter's temperatures range in the upper 20's and 30's, but the first weeks of January can take us below zero. We don't schedule workshops from mid-December to the end of January for this reason.
The building is equipped with wood heat, and a number of stoves -- so guests are cozy in cold weather, but should bring sweaters and sweatshirts. Spring is cool, and it can rain any time of year. Be prepared for inclement weather, but it's likely it will be perfect weather for the season your visiting in.
While we hope to avoid extremes that make guests uncomfortable, or adjusting a scheduled meeting necessary -- we can't guarantee that it won't be part of your experience while visiting Our House.
Visitors should serve themselves as much as possible. A beverage table is always available, meals prepared and served buffet style, but basic food faire, and clean-up involves all guests, and staff.
There are hiking trails, public swimming pool, lakes, rivers, cross country skiing and two downhill mountains, one 25 miles south of Colville, and another about 60 miles north, in Canada. You may want to extend your visit to include a time of rest and enjoying our area's natural beauty. If so, remember to bring your gear.
The major airport that serves our community is in Spokane, Washington. Scheduled visitors will have pre-arranged transportation into Colville, or rent a car and drive 70 miles to Colville. Guests can walk from area hotels to our facility, or arrange transportation from a member of our staff.
Colville lies right on State Highway 395, about 70 miles north of Spokane, WA. See detail map below. Most visitors drive north on Hwy 395, entering town via the "roundabout". From Main Street, turn LEFT onto W BIRCH AVE., RIGHT onto S WYNNE ST. and LEFT onto W ASTOR AVE. "Our House" is immediately on the right: the green, wood shingled building with yellow trim.
If you are attending an event at our facility, please arrive at, or during scheduled registration times, not before. Early guests make preparation for events more difficult. We also ask that guests leave the building after a workshop, unless an extended visit has been scheduled beforehand with our staff.
We look forward to your visit! If you have any questions, email us!
